After 30 years away, I returned to Hawai'i—this time not just for leisure, but also for business. My fiancée Vina and I traveled to Oahu and Maui, and it was nothing short of breathtaking. From the urban pulse of Waikiki to the serene coastline of Maui, our trip was a perfect blend of professional purpose and island exploration.
🏝 Oahu: Where Work Meets Waves
Our journey began on Oahu, where I had the privilege of presenting at the VIP Summit with Tardis Wealth Strategies in Honolulu, right along Waikiki Beach. We stayed at the Aloha Resort, just steps from the surf, sun, and stunning sunsets.
When not in work mode, we rented a car and explored the island. We chased waterfalls, cruised to the eastern side of Oahu, and admired the lush landscape of the Pali Highway and Kualoa Ranch region. Waikiki’s vibrant restaurant scene kept us well-fed, and the sunsets along the beach were unforgettable.
Highlights on Oahu:
Waikiki Beach: Iconic vibes, perfect for sunsets and morning walks.
Eastern Shore: Spectacular cliffs and bays like Lanai Lookout and Halona Beach Cove.
Waterfalls: We took the drive up to Manoa Falls, a lush, tropical hike with a rewarding view.

🚙 Maui: The Island of Serenity and Sea Turtles
After four wonderful days on Oahu, we caught a short flight to Maui, where a Jeep awaited us. We explored the island’s natural beauty, including the unforgettable Road to Hana—a winding, coastal journey through rainforests, waterfalls, and local fruit stands.
We stayed in an Airbnb on the south side of the island, walking distance to the beach and local food trucks (the poke bowls were incredible). We snorkeled in Half Moon Bay, where the underwater visibility was crystal clear and we spotted sea turtles gliding gracefully through the reefs.
Highlights on Maui:
Road to Hana: Worth every turn. Bring snacks, take your time.
Half Moon Bay (aka Molokini Crater): Prime snorkeling with sea life galore.
Napili Bay: Western Maui’s elegance reminded me of Orange County, CA.
Lahaina: Sadly, we passed through the town recently devastated by fires. A sobering reminder of climate vulnerability.

🌊 Reflections: Hawai'i Then and Now
This trip was especially nostalgic—three decades have passed since my last visit. The islands have changed with time: more development, soaring real estate prices, and greater climate impacts. But the aloha spirit, the rich culture, and the natural beauty remain undiminished.
Tips for Future Travelers:
Book your snorkel trips and Road to Hana stops early.
Local food trucks are hidden gems—don’t miss them!
Respect the land (and ocean); it’s sacred to the locals and stunning to experience.
🌺 Mahalo for the Memories
